2017 starts of with a long distance dog sled race in February and end the year with the traditional Christmas market in December. Do you wonder what more the Røros-region has to offer? Here are some of the events we have in store for you:

10.-14. February The Femund Race
The Femund Race is a long distance dog sled race held each winter. The race starts in the historic mining town of Røros, which is featured on UNESCOs world heritage list. The race runs through eight boroughs and their spectacular scenery in South-Trøndelag and Hedmark, before returning to the finish in Røros.

21.-25. February Rørosmartnan No 164
Only seven days after The Femund Race the traditional winter fair (Rørosmartnan) is held, and combines street life, trade, culture and traditions in a way you can’t experience anywhere else. The World Heritage site of Røros forming a unique setting for the festival. The arrival of around eighty horse drawn carriages on Tuesday marks the start of the five-day event.

14.-20. March Art in Bergstaden
The yearly art exhibition in the mining town Røros will be held from Tuesday to Sunday during the Winter Chamber Music Festival, and it is good way to combine two events during your stay. The art exhibition promotes young artist, international art and art from the local area. The program will be out soon.

16.-19. March The Winter Chamber Music Festival
A genuine and intimate festival – in the middle of winter, in the middle of Norway and in the heart of Røros. Artistic directors Ingfrid Breie Nyhus and Eirik Raude say: In March when the light floods over Røros we invite you to the annual musical festival in the streets and historic buildings of Røros. Norwegian and international musicians come together to create what we call the ‘fifth season’, over four days of warm festival atmosphere.

08 .-10. June Norwegian Cured Meat festival in Tynset
The ham capital Tynset invites you to the Norwegian Spekemat Festival to celebrate some of the best that Norwegian agriculture has to offer. The best hams are produced here and are made from pigs from Hedmark

Mid. August Opera Di Setra
Join Opera di Setra in the mountains 800m over sea level in Tylldalen to experience something completely unique the first weekend in July each year. In the meadow over Svarthammerlia we set up an opera in which the music, traditions, nature, people and animals meet for an experience you will never forget. 26. – 30. July og 31. July – 05. August  Elden Røros
One of Norway’s most spectacular outdoor stages is the setting for this outdoor musical theatre. The story: War threatens young hopes and dreams. But many are those who still bear a flame in their heart. By A. Strømmevold and B. Reithaug. Director: Paul Ottar Haga. A musical about love and hate – hope and despair in the largest Nordic war tragedy. Seen by over 12 000 people in 2016. Sold out performances over the last 7 years. Ticket sales for 2017 have begun.

07.-10. December Christmas Market in Røros
At the heart of Røros. The old and new traditions give us a feeling of warmth in Bergstadens colorful and cozy settings. There is Christmas shopping to be done at the market and in the many stores throughout the four days. Welcome to a cozy Christmas event!
