We have nature. We have mountains, fishing lakes and national parks. We have plenty of space. The Røros region has 2.3 inhabitants per square km. Germany has 237 inhabitants per km2. Great Britain has 272 inhabitants per km2.

We have culture. We have the world heritage mining town of Røros and the circumference – an area that extends around Røros with a radius of approx. 45 km. We have 100 houses that are listed and 400 houses located within the protection zone in the center of Røros. On the World Heritage List, you’ll find us in the company of the Great Wall of China, Easter Island, and the Taj Mahal.

We have history, we have literary history and we have a Sami history. When the Røros Copper Company started up in 1644, there was only one farm where the mountain town grew up to be. Johan Falkberget wrote about the history of the Copper Company through Christianus Sextus (1927) and Nattens Brød (1940). From a long time ago, there has been Sami settlement in the Røros area, and Røros is today a South Sami center.
