Here are a few suggestions as to what you can do in the region this summer.

The capital of local specialties is Røros

Try our specialties – whether it is food from abundant villages to the loneliest mountains.
In this area you can choose amongst many specialties. All the food grows slowly and develops a distinct flavour under the special climate conditions in this region. The traditional dishes alone are worth a trip.

Røros for the children

For families, a vaction is often about relaxing. In our region you can choose among many activities for children and adults. Here are some suggestions:

Aukrustsenteret and Flåklypatoppen with activities and adventures based on the works of beloved Norwegian author and humorist Kjell Aukrust and The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix. Here you’ll meet the characters Ludvig and Solan. You might even become a certified Pinchcliffe-astronaut.

A brand new bath and wellnes centre at Røros Hotell was opened in June 2016. Here you can swim inside and outside and enjoy yourself the whole year ’round.

Doktortjønna Family Park is an exciting experience for big and small alike. You’ll meet friendly animals and will be able to try out different activities.

Experience a mountain farm with animals on their «summer holiday». Let the children enjoy helping in the cow shed and try out games from long ago. Relax and let the locals tell you stories from way back, all the while you’ll enjoy locally produced baked goods and coffee among the ancient wooden buildings.

Bring your fishing rod or try your luck in one of the many mountain lakes and brooks. Or maybe you’d rather take a trip with the MS Fæmund II on Norway’s third largest lake?

You can also grab a bike and explore the region the slow way. Several types of routes make this enjoyable for small children and grownups alike.
