For the third year in a row, millions of users of TripAdvisor have chosen the church in Røros as one of ten Norwegian Must See-landmarks this year.
«The pride of the mining town» – better known as the church in Røros, was built in the golden age of the Røros Copper Company.
The building was finished in 1784 and almost seems to reach for the sky, with its almost 50 meters tall tower. The Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage has declared the church one of ten of Norway’s most famous churches. It is one of this country’s biggest, with seating for 1600 people.
The church was closed during restoration between 2008 and 2010, and is now as impressive as the day when it was new. Throughout the year you can enjoy all kinds of musical and cultural happenings, as well as regular services like weddings and the like.
Destination Røros organizes the guided tours in the church, in cooperation with the community and the parish itself.
